There are two large reservoirs in the upper reaches of Nidderdale. This photograph shows Scar House Reservoir, with the dam of Angram Reservoir visible in the distance.
The reservoirs were built to supply the needs of Bradford, some 40 miles distant, the water being piped over the moors.
