This
is one photo I definitely did not take! It shows the Yorkshire
coast town of Bridlington, in about 1910 judging by the clothes.
Some years ago I came across a box of old glass plates in a
junk shop. Most of them were of poor quality or of boring subjects,
and this was about the best of them. There is a small amount
of damage in the sky area, but apart from that, it is very good
quality. I have made excellent 20"x16" prints from
this negative.
If the photographer would like to come forward I will gladly
give him a credit.......
Update! - It has been suggested to me by one of my visitors (thanks
Keith), that this photo may be the work of John Taylor
Allerston,
(1828-1914), a marine artist and one of the first photographers
in the area.
