Lake District Photos, Yorkshire Dales Photographs & Cycling Photos.

News/Info

About me and this site: Latest News: Last updated 1st January 2007

I am a freelance landscape photographer and photogrammetrist based in Cumbria (North-West England).
I have been taking landscape photographs for over 20 years, mainly of the Yorkshire Dales, but increasingly of The Lake District.
I have had work featured in leading UK photographic magazines, I am a contributor to Alamy & UKLandscape (on-line image libraries), and recently had a photograph chosen for the prestigious "Winter Exposed" exhibition at Kew Gardens, London.
I use professional standard 35mm, medium format and digital cameras for all my landscape photographs.

The site also features cycle racing photographs and digital images that have been created in Adobe Photoshop, Bryce 3D, Truespace, Terragen, etc.

The 'Miscellaneous' section contains anything which does not fit into the other two categories, and includes several images that have either been heavily manipulated, or have been created in Adobe Photoshop, my favourite image manipulation programme. I plan to add more images that I have created using 'Truespace', 'Terragen', and 'Bryce 3D'.

Some Technical Stuff: The boring copyright stuff ©:

The non-cycling photographs were taken on various cameras from 35mm compacts to a 5"x4" press camera from the 1950's (The Corn Exchange shot).
All my current landscape work is taken either on my Nikon F100, or a Mamiya 6x7 medium format camera, which is capable of producing very high quality enlargements.
For film, at the moment I use Fuji Provia 100F and Velvia 50.
For my digital work I currently use a Fuji S2 Pro digital SLR with Nikon lenses.

Most of the cycling photos were taken with my trusty Olympus OM1, with no motor drive or autofocus, and usually just a single, fixed lens.
As I have to carry the gear on my bike, it needs to be as light as possible. (You don't want a lot of extra gear to carry around when you've got the Col de Restefond to cycle up)!

All photographs, backgrounds, and logos on these pages are Copyright Dave Lawrance 1991-2008 unless otherwise stated.

Please feel free to use any of the images for your own personal use, for desktop "wallpaper" etc, but do not pass them on to anyone else, modify them in any way, or reproduce any derivative work created from them. Permission is not given here for the use of any image on web sites, blogs, Myspace sites, etc. (But see below).

The images may not be posted to binary newsgroups.

Any image on a web site is the copyright of the person who created it, even if it is not obvious who that person is.

Sadly, due to a small number of people who have chosen to ignore the above, I have reluctantly had to apply my name and copyright logo to the photos. This is something I hoped not to have to do, but unfortunately it has been forced upon me. (All official users of my photographs now also use copies which incorporate this information).

Non commercial web use:

If you have a non commercial web site, and would like to use any of my photographs, contact me first!
Permission will not be given retrospectively.

Me and my bike. (Well, one of them anyway)!

A trusty steed pauses for breath at the top of the climb to Hautacam in the Pyrenees.
This bike is now in retirement.

This person should be in retirement!
